Mrs. Barnum’s 1st graders had so much fun on the first day of school! They were all super excited about the friendship bracelets they got after they read “Our Class is a Family” by Shannon Olsen. 💕 It’s going to be an amazing year!

After reading First Day Jitters students in Mrs. Ostler's and Mrs. Provstgaard's classes wrote how they felt on their first day. They did a cute craft to go with their writing project!  It has been a great first week!

Our first graders practiced their cutting skills, went on a school tour in search of Pete the Cat, and enjoyed some Jitter Juice to help them through their first day of school jitters.

Meet Our New Teacher - Mrs. O’Dea

Mrs. O’Dea is originally from Maple Valley, Washington, but moved to Spanish Fork two years ago. She has been married for 18 years and has 3 sons. She loves Italian food, snickerdoodle cookies, and the color purple. She also loves to go hiking and enjoys visiting new and interesting places. She will be teaching Kindergarten this year!

Mrs. Ringger has taught computers for 11 years and we are so excited to have her teaching art this year! She has 4 kids - 3 daughters and 1 son, plus 2 sons-in-law and 3 granddaughters! She also has 2 dogs, some chickens, and some bees! She loves to crochet, read, and travel, and loves anything chocolates or gummy. We are so happy to have her at Santaquin Elementary!

Mrs. Flanders has been teaching for 28 years! She is originally from Newton Falls, Ohio, but just moved to Utah from Colorado where she raised her family. She is married with 3 children and 7 grandchildren! 
 

Mrs. Flanders loves reading, camping, traveling, scrapbooking, and spending time with her family. We are excited that she will be teaching Kindergarten at Santaquin Elementary!

Mrs. Sumens got both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from SUU. Her husband is the Dean of Students at Springville Jr. High and she has 3 amazing children  She enjoys reading historical fiction, baking, and online shopping.  She spends a ton of time driving her teenagers from place to place, so she has recently started listening to podcasts and audiobooks. She especially enjoys podcasts about education and history. 
 

Mrs. Sumens has taught for 9 years in Washington County and 10 years in Nebo, and we are so excited to have her join the 1st grade team!

Mrs. Corry has been married for 20 years and has 4 children who range in age from 18-9. She graduated from WGU and did her student teaching at Santaquin Elementary last year. She loves volleyball, playing games, and reading, and her favorite candy is Sour Patch Kids. She will be teaching 2nd grade this year. We are so happy to have her here at our school!

Mrs. Bever is from Oceanside, Oregon. She comes from a family of five and has two brothers. She loves sports, music, being outside, art, and reading. She graduated from BYU, her favorite kind of Heaven is Italian, and her favorite treat is donuts. She will be teaching 3rd grade and we are so happy to have her at Santaquin Elementary!
