Uncle John is really cool. Uncle John is Mrs. Harward’s uncle and she invited him to come and tell us stories. They are stories about a jackrabbit named Jack.  He happens to be bigger than all other jackrabbits.  

 He told us how Jack had forced him and his friends to agree not to shoot them anymore; his trip to Jack’s burrow to meet him and his wife and all his children and having lots of trouble getting down through the hole; saving a kitty who had fallen into a mine shaft by using a rabbit ladder and catching some escaped convicts from a detention camp a little east of Pioche who were threatening three people at Delmue’s Ranch (also required using a hoard of his lieutenants).  

 We loved hearing his “Jack” stories. We loved the details.  We were amazed by the stories and we didn’t want him to quit. We were thankful he would use his spare time to tell us stories.  Thank you Uncle John.

We wanted to let our parents know how much we appreciate you!  We have great parent involvement at our school. Did you know, parent involvement is the number one predictor for early literacy success?   At our grade level literacy nights,  we have had a high percentage of parents attend.  

Research shows that students with involved parents are more likely to:

• Earn higher grades and test scores, and enroll in higher-level programs
• Be promoted, pass their classes, and earn credits
• Attend school regularly
• Have better social skills, show improved behavior, and adapt well to school
• Graduate and go on to postsecondary education

We also had many parents come to our parents and pastries activity this week and read a book with their students.  Thank you!  We think parents are powerful!

Students in our 4th grade classes have been learning about and using technology.  On parent night,  the parents of our 4th graders watched a video their students made describing topics they had learned in class.  They also were able to use a QR code reader on their smart device to listen and watch their student read a letter to a child they had written to in Uganda.  Mr. "H" our digital coach and the 4th grade teachers helped the students create the videos and QR codes.
