Miss Camper's second graders read the Journey's story, "Mr. Tannen’s Tie Trouble."   Mr. Hanosek asked them questions about the story and then showed them how to tie a tie.  They were so proud of Mr. H that they gave him a round of applause. The students were then each given a tie to learn how to do it themselves.   Second graders are quite good at this complicated skill.

A big thank you to all who attended SEP's this week.  We love the chance to celebrate success and set some new goals.  We are also very thankful for the generous meal for the teachers provided by our wonderful PTA.

Mr. H came to ask for help to get an elf out of a box. The 5 groups had to solve math problems, remember directions on a map, and read in order to solve the clues to the different locks. We got the elf out!

What?  How does someone taste a book?  Well, Mrs. Rindy taught us that books are quite tasty.  We got to move around the table and sample different books to see which ones we might want to read.  We filled out our menu so that we would have a record of those books for later.

We were privileged to hear Donald Davis, a nationally recognized storyteller, come to an assembly.  He entertained us with his childhood stories.  More importantly he helped us realize that we are all authors.

Sixth grade explored mixed media art by watercoloring on paper and then cutting out black paper to make a sillouette. Most of our visitors don't make it down their hall.  Be sure to stop by and look at their artwork.

Third grade is very lucky to receive dictionaries every year from the Rotary Club.  This year Santaquin Pharmacy also helped in the donation.  They spent time  teaching us how to use a dictionary.   We look forward to using them all year and in years to come.  They reading their dictionaries for fun!

We loved having our veteran friends and relatives visit our school so that we could honor them.  We also honored veterans who have passed away as well as those currently serving.   We learned more about their service and the meaning of Veterans Day.  We were able to sing "Thank You Military" to our honored guests and wave flags to show our appreciation.  We made posters to decorate the halls and lined the sidewalks with American flags as part of our celebration.  Some of them were able to stay after the assembly and go to individual classes to talk with them about their service.

One of our special veterans said that he felt very loved and that it may have been one of the best days of his life.
