The Santaquin Elementary reading rodeo was started a few years ago as an incentive to get the students reading over the summer. Our students had to read 60 days this summer to participate in the rodeo. The events in our rodeo are the stick horse race, lassoing a rocking horse, a snake in my boot, panning for gold, the horse shoe competition and the bouncy horse race.

This year, our reading rodeo was a huge success as we had 250 students who qualified to participate.  The students rotated through the different events. The kids had a great time doing all of the events but the bouncy horse race may have been the favorite as the horses were definately spirited and several kids were "bucked" off.

Mr. "H" told a funny story about an elephant, a whale, and a rabbit while we enjoyed smores. We finished off the day with Mr. Aryle doing a hide race and barrel racing by Mrs. Lyons, Mr. Argyle and Mrs. Teemant.  Mrs. Lyons was the sure winner as Mrs. Teemant couldn't get Daisy the mule to go the right way and Mr. Argyle was a close second.  Congratulations to all our participants in the rodeo!  A big thank you to our reading rodeo committee and the PTA for making it happen.  YeeHaw!
