Plastic Art

Submitted by susan.hunter on Tue, 05/12/2015 - 12:52

Next all classes studied Dale Chihuly, one of the most intriguing 21st century glass blowing installation artist.  That's a mouthful!  The students love, love him!  They know tons of super fun facts about him. They created pieces of art out of plastic that was then melted, similar to blown glass. They installed the pieces as if they were installing it on the ceiling, as intended for the installation. It hangs in the library.  The students are amazing.

The fifth and sixth grade artists studied different ways to make money by being creative.  Our project focus was city planners, architects and interior designers.  They built city models out of recyclables.  After being given a list of requirements, I set them loose.  They then had to create their own urban home blue print, a one-point perspective city drawing of the building containing their homes, and last they created idea boards with clipped furnishings, paint swatches and flooring samples.
